Dog Shock Collar

Dog Training Tool: Shock Collars & Shock Equipment

​Rating: Unacceptable due to an extremely high risk for misuse, abuse and/or malfunction in the hands of the average dog handler.

Operant Sequence: Positive Punishment or Negative Reinforcement

Positive Punishment
Adding the static shock to decrease the likelihood that the behaviour will be
repeated. For example, shocking the dog to stop it from barking.

Negative Reinforcement
Ending the static shock to increase the likelihood that the behaviour will be repeated. For example, ending the shock to keep the dog in heel position (avoidance conditioning).

Conclusion: Powerful Aversive
